Das Bum Smoke is titled from a bastard German/English phrase in the tradition of The Simpsons' 'Das Butt'. While meaningless on its own, Das Bum Smoke illustrates the internationally accepted practise of 'bumming a smoke' via a simple portrait; a nameless person falls from the dubious grace of a bad relationship into alcoholism, losing their mind to excess every Friday and Saturday night. Moving from place to place, lover to lover and cigarette to cigarette like the travelling spider on the cover, we can only wonder where the journey will end.
